Mastercard and BVNK have launched the Global Money Platform, allowing banks, fintechs and enterprises to integrate fiat currencies and stablecoins into their financial products through a single API.

Announced on October 15, 2026, the platform combines Mastercard’s global payments infrastructure with BVNK’s stablecoin technology to support multi-currency accounts, real-time conversion, stablecoin-linked cards and local bank payouts. The launch follows Mastercard’s acquisition of BVNK in August through a deal worth up to $1.8 billion, including $300 million in contingent payments, as detailed in Mastercard’s acquisition of BVNK.

The platform aims to simplify how businesses hold, convert, send and receive money across traditional financial systems and blockchain-based payment networks. Customers can select the services they need and add more capabilities as they become available without integrating separate providers for each stage of a transaction.

Mastercard Bridges Fiat and Stablecoin Payments

At the centre of the platform is a global money account that allows users to hold fiat currencies and stablecoins side by side and convert between them through a single API. Financial institutions and technology companies can embed these accounts into their own products, giving customers one place to manage funds, convert currencies and pay out earnings.

The platform also integrates Mastercard Move, the company’s portfolio of money movement services, which reaches more than 17 billion endpoints. This integration allows users to convert stablecoin balances into local currency and send payments directly to recipients’ local bank accounts.

Mastercard expects coverage to expand to more than 40 currencies across over 200 countries and territories in 2027. Customers will also be able to spend stablecoin balances across Mastercard’s global acceptance network, which covers hundreds of millions of merchant locations, with card issuing available in more than 130 countries.

The launch builds on Mastercard’s wider stablecoin settlement strategy, which includes support plans for regulated stablecoins in card settlement and additional settlement options outside conventional banking hours.

The Global Money Platform offers services covering sending, receiving, converting, storing, spending and earning. Mastercard also plans to support additional forms of money, including tokenised deposits, and future applications in agentic commerce.

Investor Takeaway

Mastercard and BVNK’s platform combines multi-currency accounts, stablecoin conversion and Mastercard Move, with payouts expected to cover more than 40 currencies across over 200 countries and territories in 2027.

Payment Firms Prepare to Integrate Global Money Services

Payments company Nuvei and card-issuing platform Marqeta will be among the first businesses to integrate the Global Money Platform, alongside Ontop, Bolt Group and Almond FinTech.

The integration will allow these companies to offer customers more options for holding and moving money between traditional currencies and stablecoins. Businesses can also use the infrastructure to manage treasury operations, payments and settlement directly.

BVNK has pursued similar integrations with payment providers, including Corpay’s adoption of stablecoin wallets and settlement capabilities for corporate customers, allowing businesses to hold stablecoin balances alongside fiat currencies and move funds across payment networks.

The company has also expanded into payroll, with Deel introducing stablecoin salary payouts powered by BVNK for eligible customers. The service allows businesses to pay employees in supported stablecoins through Deel’s payroll platform, extending BVNK’s infrastructure into international workforce payments.

Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard’s executive vice president of blockchain and digital assets, said, “We believe the future of commerce will be built on interoperability across multiple forms of money.”
